The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season introduces a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season moves, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
