AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a surprising partnership that breaks traditional forecasts, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome changes echo through the obscurity." The plot presents a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden group.

The mission focuses on "peculiar trials and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Transformations

The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a powerful scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Bonus Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an exclusive katana alongside numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

  • Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa attire for Naoe
  • Unique implements
  • Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Update

This update also brings the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Collaborations

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
